- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 tsp flavored oil (peppermint, cinnamon, etc.)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup.
- Heat and stir until sugar dissolves, then insert candy thermometer.
- Boil without stirring until mixture reaches 300°F.
- Remove from heat, quickly stir in flavoring and coloring.
- Pour onto greased or lined baking sheet.
- Cool completely, then break into pieces and dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
- Use flavored oils, not extracts, for strong taste.
- Wear gloves when breaking candy to avoid cuts.
- Store in airtight jars to keep dry and fresh.
