These chewy lemon brownies are bursting with citrus flavor, topped with a bright lemon glaze. They’re easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 16 squares 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Lemon Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
  • Stir in lemon zest and lemon juice.
  • Fold in flour and salt just until combined—don’t overmix.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 23–26 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • While brownies are still warm, whisk together powdered sugar and lemon juice to make the glaze.
  • Pour glaze over the top and spread evenly.
  • Let cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Use only fresh lemon juice and zest for the brightest flavor.
  • Add blueberries or raspberries to the batter for a fruity twist.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days or refrigerate up to 5 days.
  • Freezes well—wrap each square individually before freezing.
