Ingredients
Penne pasta (12 oz)
Chicken breast, sliced (1 lb)
Chicken broth (3 cups)
Heavy cream (1/2 cup)
Bell peppers, sliced (1 cup)
Onion, sliced (1/2 cup)
Fajita seasoning (1 tbsp)
Olive oil (1 tbsp)
Instructions
Heat Olive Oil (The Oil Operation): Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
Cook Chicken, Peppers, and Onions (The Sauté Sensation): Add the sliced chicken breast, bell peppers, and onions to the pot. Sprinkle with fajita seasoning and cook until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender, about 8-10 minutes.
Add Pasta and Broth (The Pasta Placement): Add the penne pasta and chicken broth to the pot.
Simmer (The Simmering Stage): Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and simmer until the pasta is cooked al dente and the liquid has reduced, about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in Heavy Cream (The Cream Incorporation): Remove the pot from heat and stir in the heavy cream gently, ensuring it’s fully incorporated.
Warm Through (The Warming Process): Return the pot to low heat and warm through for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is heated through.
Serve Warm (The Serving Sensation): Serve the chicken fajita pasta warm with extra fajita toppings, if desired, such as sour cream, guacamole, salsa, cilantro, or lime wedges.
