Soft, gooey, and packed with holiday spices, these Gingerbread Cinnamon Rolls are perfect for Christmas morning or a cozy weekend treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsulphured molasses
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast in warm milk for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix molasses, brown sugar, egg, and butter together, then combine with the yeast mixture.
  3. Add flour, spices, and salt. Knead until smooth and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle, spread spiced butter filling, then roll tightly and slice into 12 rolls.
  5. Place in greased baking dish, cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 25–28 minutes.
  7. Frost warm rolls with cream cheese frosting and serve.

Notes

  • Use unsulphured molasses for best flavor.
  • Prep dough the night before for easier morning baking.
  • Freeze shaped rolls before final rise for future use.
