- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp lemon zest
- 1/2 cup chopped strawberries
- 1 tbsp sugar (for strawberries)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix chopped strawberries with 1 tbsp sugar. Set aside.
- In another bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Unfold puff pastry and cut into heart shapes. Score a smaller heart inside each one and dock the center with a fork.
- Spoon a teaspoon of cream cheese filling into the center, followed by strawberries.
- Brush edges with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes or until puffed and golden.
- Cool slightly before serving. Optional: drizzle with glaze or dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
- Use all-butter puff pastry for best flavor.
- Substitute strawberries with raspberries or blueberries for variation.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
